Getting Ready to Run in the Sun

As we get ready for warmer temps, here are my tips for protecting ourselves in the sun...
1

Living in Santa Fe means I’m seven thousand feet closer to the sun! And even when it’s cold out, the sun warms you up very quickly.

Here are some tips for running in the heat and sun.

  • APPLY SUNSCREEN on the face and body! I never leave the house without applying it. For me, I like Neutrogena for my face. For the body, I use sprays that are easy to apply and not messy.

  • WEAR A HAT that really protects you! This trailmade cap is made by REI. Not the most attractive - ha ha - but a great cape that protects the neck and ears as well as the head.

  • WEAR SUN SLEEVES. I bought a few pairs of Sports Trail in pink and white on Amazon.

  • BRING YOUR OWN FLUIDS. There are no water fountains here in Santa Fe like there are in Central Park. I am a big fan of Nathan Hydration bottles. There are so many options to choose. I switch between handheld and wearing bottles around my waist.

Now go out, run and keep moving forward!
