Gearing up for my next half-marathon in Denver on May 18, I made the above video for my own accountability and also wanted to share with all of you — in case some of these tips can apply to you while you’re out on the run!
STOP CHECKING YOUR PHONE ON THE RUN. Wear the flip belt again, and keep the phone there. This is not only a great belt for car keys and storing gels, but big enough for the phone. Storing it there instead of in my pants pocket will mean I won’t reach for my phone to stop and read texts and emails!
STOP STOPPING! The only reason to stop running is if you’re sick or have a cramp, or you need to take an emergency call. We’re not going to stop and read emails, or stop and redo our hair.
STOP STASHING THE WATER BOTTLE UNDER A TREE! The weather is getting warmer and now more than ever, we need to be hydrating. For me, my mix is water and Gatorade. If anything, bring an extra water bottle and stash that under a tree so you can grab it one your way back and drink more.
Let’s get the mind and brain to cooperate and focus on running!
